Åsa Björklund (pronounced “Osa”) has spent her career in philanthropy, raising funds and awareness for land, wildlife, and community conservation. She currently works at the Conservation Lands Foundation, advocating for the protection of public lands. Before moving to the U.S., she lived in Guatemala, where she worked on conservation initiatives and supported Indigenous Peoples’ rights through roles with the European Union and United Nations.
Åsa first connected with MSI through her daughter's involvement in Pika Net, a citizen science initiative, and was inspired by MSI’s work engaging communities in conservation. She is passionate about protecting nature and ensuring everyone has equal access to its many benefits. She holds a law degree specializing in human rights and a B.A. in journalism focused on nonprofit communication. In her free time, Åsa enjoys hiking, skiing, reading, and admiring other people’s pets—especially dogs and horses. She lives in Durango with her husband and daughter.
