Bill has lived in the San Juans for 25 years now. He is an avid fly fisherman, big game hunter, and skier/snowboarder. He lives at 8000ft. of elevation, in Aspen Trails subdivision, between Trew Creek and Shearer Creek. His connection to the San Juan Mountains is something he feels deeply on a daily basis. Bill and his family enjoy camping, hunting, fishing, skiing and snowboarding in their free time.
He was born and raised in Clinton, Ct., a small town where his parents were both educators. He went to Stonehill College in North Easton, Ma., where he earned a bachelor’s in Business Administration and played basketball. For a few years he lived in Bend, Or., and worked as a wilderness therapy instructor with at-risk teenagers. Following that, in 2001, he moved to the Durango area and worked as a residential construction worker building straw bale and adobe homes in La Plata and Montezuma counties, while doing coursework at Fort Lewis College to obtain his teaching credentials. For a brief time, he lived on the Durango Nature Center property, in their yurt, in a caretaker capacity.
In 2004, he began working for Bayfield School District. He is currently serving as the Assistant Superintendent for Bayfield. He has been a teacher, coach, and school administrator in Bayfield for twenty years and has become a respected education leader in the region. He helps form a connection between MSI and the K-12 education community.
